Alabama running back Bo Scarbrough has caused quite a stir in the Tide’s spring scrimmages the past 2 weeks.
ICYMI:Alabama Football’s Spring Scrimmage Summary
There’s a lot of noise coming out of Tuscaloosa about a certain running back these days. And no, I’m not talking about 2015 Heisman winner Derrick Henry.
At 6’2″ & 240 lbs, it’s surprising that sophomore running back Bo Scarbrough could go virtually undetected on anyone’s radar.
Maybe it’s his quiet nature?
Maybe it’s the way he prefers it?
Whatever the case, Bo won’t be able to blend in to the crowd much longer.

Let’s take a moment to get to know the next great running back in Alabama football.
Bo burst on the scene at Northridge High School (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) as a sophomore where he rushed for 938 yards and 13 touchdowns. Scarbrough committed to Alabama in September of 2012, though his commitment would be far from over (more on that later). An injury cut his junior season short, only playing in one game.
Feeling like he needed a change to improve both his playing skills and academics for college, Scarbrough transferred to IMG Academy. As a senior, he rushed for 1,468 yards and 20 touchdowns in 10 games. A widely noted 5-star prospect, he eventually confirmed his commitment to Alabama over Miami, Florida State, UCLA, Notre Dame, Mississippi and Arkansas. Bo arrived at Alabama as an early enrollee in December of 2014 after clearing up some grade issues.
During Bama’s 2015 championship run, Scarbrough saw playing time against Georgia, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Charleston Southern, Florida, Michigan State and even Clemson, though his field time was restricted mostly to special teams.
Even as 3rd string RB (or even 4th, depending on who you ask), behind Henry, Kenyan Drake, and Damien Harris, Bo did manage a respectable 18 carries for 104 yards and a single touchdown.
Fast forward a few months to the recent spring scrimmages.
With Derrick Henry and company out of the picture, someone needed to step up to be the go-to guy on the ground for Alabama’s pro-style offense.
It seems that Bo is on track to be our main man. After posting gaudy stats of 132 yards and 3 touchdowns on just 9 carries in the first scrimmage, he backed it up with 111 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries in the second scrimmage.

In keeping with the strong tradition of Alabama football having zero clue as to who will be under center at QB this fall, the Tide will need to call on a strong running game to help out in 2016.
Bo Scarbrough, get ready to answer that call.
And Tide faithful, prepare yourselves to once again spend a vast majority of the games yelling,
“RUN THE DAMN BALL, LANE!”
