Real Reason For Satellite Camps? Better Football At Your School
By Chris Hale
The NCAA ended all satellite camps effectively this past week, sending many on social media to protest the decision.

There were quite a few different reasons that kept coming up, but this one seemed to come up more than the others.
Football fans across America are protesting the ending of satellite camps because athletes that are under the radar could be left behind on Signing Day. Like I said in one of the earlier pieces, if you can play football I guarantee that you won’t be left behind. There are way too many recruiting services that handle just that.
But how will the kids get their chance and being recruited by one of the big schools? They won’t be able to be discovered. Let me let you in on a little secret. I’m not sure of his schedule or how often he does it, but Coach Nick Saban watches tape to find athletes that would fit in at Alabama. Weird concept, I know. It’s been said that if you are a recruit that he wants, he will watch every single play that he can get his hands on. He knows more about you than you do by the time you arrive in Tuscaloosa.
What a concept. They give high school prospects an official visit that they can take to check out potential schools. That bill is picked up by the school. Also if a coach wants you, he is going to come see you. You will be found, if you are good enough.
Some aren’t good enough to play at the next level and that’s a fact that they have to learn to live with for their lives. There are only so many slots that can be filled due to scholarship limitations and on the other hand, there is only so many kids that can fill them.
Just one last thing. If you are a fan of one of the big time schools that it affected, do not come at me with this “it gives some kids who wouldn’t otherwise have a chance to get an education”. I tell you what else gives you a good chance—getting good grades in school.
Don’t get me wrong because everyone should do what they can to get a college education. If you aren’t a big time college player with what it takes to cut it, you may have to go other routes.

When you see Big 10 fans protesting this ruling, don’t think they are worried about if you get a good education. They are worried about finding people to fit the football team. If what you studied was all that important, I guarantee that the Spelling Bee would have higher ratings than the College Football Playoff.
Coach Harbaugh doesn’t need to worry. You can still attract great athletes from all over the country right to your campus and even get them to sign. I’ve seen it accomplished in Tuscaloosa. You may just have to put in more work than you do sitting behind your Twitter screen name and get out there to do the work.

If you want to coach college football bad enough, I think you got it in you. If you’re looking to travel to different cities just to put on a show, I hear Ringling Brothers Circus may have a spot for you. You could tweet as your act.
