Football among Alabama teams with well above average APR score

"Alabama’s football team was one of five Tide teams with an Academic Progress Rate (APR) score 15 points or more better than the national average in their respective sport in figures released by the NCAA on Wednesday.The figures cover the four-year period from the 2011-12 school year through 2014-15."

Not only do we have their accomplishments to celebrate on the field, we also have the ones off the field. This is one of the better ones. Many of the student athletes won’t have the opportunity to play professionally in their respective sport, so a great education is important to get.

Alabama football wins big at Crimson Choice Awards

"Alabama’s national championship-winning football team raked in the awards at the Crimson Choice Awards on Tuesday.The Crimson Tide received six awards at the event, including Team of the Year and Coach of the Year. Heisman Trophy-winning running back Derrick Henry earned two awards as the Male Athlete of the Year and Fan Favorite."

Alabama Softball Edges Out South Alabama, 4-2

"A two-run error in the fourth inning ultimately made the difference in a close 4-2 win for Alabama over South Alabama Wednesday night at Rhoads Stadium.Alabama (39-8) scored four runs on six hits against South Alabama (26-13), including a two-run home run by Leona Lafaele as part of a 2-3 day at the plate. Over her last five games, Lafaele is hitting .538 (7-13) with five home runs."

Coach Patrick Murphy’s squad keeps roll right along as the end of the regular season is getting closer. The Tide will be back in action this weekend starting a three-game set with the Kentucky Wildcats on Friday. First pitch in Tuscaloosa is set for 6:30 p.m. CT and you can watch on SEC Network+.

Baseball Falls to South Alabama, 8-2

"Alabama baseball fell, 8-2, to South Alabama on Wednesday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. With the loss, the Crimson Tide moves to 23-15 on the season.“I thought the game got away from us there in the fourth when they ran up the five spot,” said Alabama head coach Mitch Gaspard. “They put some good at-bats together along with the double steal, and we broke down in a couple spots. On the offensive end, we just didn’t generate enough. We had a few opportunities there and we just didn’t put enough good swings on it to pressure their defense.”"

Wednesday night was just not the night for Alabama baseball. They jumped out in the third, but South Alabama posted that five-run frame and not look back. As of now, Alabama is still projected to get to play in the NCAA Tournament in Tallahassee, FL. Up next for the Tide, they will take on the Texas A&M Aggies in College Station for this weekend’s series. First pitch for Friday will come at 6:30 p.m. CT and can be viewed on SEC Network+.
