Crimson Tide Report: Dismissals, Dunbar and More

Good Friday mornin’ to you, Crimson Tide Nation! Yesterday saw several stories out of Tuscaloosa, including the dismissal of a 5-star offensive lineman, the announcement we’ve all been waiting for, and postponement of the SEC softball tournament quarterfinals.

Thursday afternoon, 5-star lineman Charles Baldwin was dismissed from the Alabama football team due to violation of team rules, according to a statement from Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban. Some fans were initially upset while others didn’t seem to care a bit. Social media was flooded with opinions from everyone with a smartphone, and covered a range of opinions from “Well, there goes one of our top guys,” to “Baldwin was a jerk who half-assed everything on the field.”

Despite a hole that has been left in the roster to back up Cam Robinson, by the end of the day, pretty much everyone agreed that Saint Nick has and always will have these situations under control. My advice? Relax and trust the process.

Shortly after the statement from Saban was released, the University put out the OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL press release about the hiring of Coach Dunbar. They kept us guessing for over two weeks, but someone finally decided to get off their butt and tell us that Karl Dunbar is in fact the new coach for the Crimson Tide defensive line. Now that we know this for sure, we can move on to speculating what color socks Kiffin will wear to Media Days, because Bama fans will literally debate anything.

Finally, following an impressive storm system that moved through the state, last night’s SEC tournament quarterfinals softball game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Auburn Tigers was postponed to today at 11AM Central. If Bama wins, they will advance to the semifinals and face the Florida Gators at 4:30PM Central this afternoon. Be sure to watch our ladies in action and cheer on the Crimson Tide on the SEC Network.
