Crimson Tide Makes Top 4 For Louisiana’s Top Recruit, LSU Does Not
By Chris Hale
The Alabama Crimson Tide makes the top four for the top recruit out of Louisiana in five-star wide receiver Devonta Smith.

The top recruit for the class of 2017 in Louisiana has set his decision date for August 15 and the Crimson Tide is one of the four schools Devonta Smith will choose to attend. One glaring omission is there is no LSU.
The Tide, Mississippi State, Nebraska, and Miami were the schools that made the cut, according to Jimmy Smith of Nola.com.
The 6-foot-1, 160-pound Louisiana standout told Jimmy Smith that he had a lot of respect for the LSU coaches but their offense just didn’t fit him well.

As far as the Crimson Tide goes? “They are always playing for National Championships”, Smith said. “The coaching staff is great, not too far from home and they were on me early and never let up.”
As of right now, Smith’s Crystal Ball predictions on 247Sports are 100-percent in favor for the Crimson Tide.
Just as you’d expect the usual LSU meltdowns are happening, but maybe not as bad as they have been in the past. Here are a few quotes from message boards. We’ve never seen anything like this before, have we? Yes, we have.
"Is he better than Netherly? I would say no just by looking at their film. LSU got a beast of a receiver in Netherly. Best of luck Devonta"
The first step in denial. LSU fans automatically think they already have someone who is better. Mannie Netherly is rated as the 29th best wide receiver in the country, while Smith comes in at ten. But random LSU fan has watched the tape.
"Our offense doesn’t fit him but Bama’s does? Whatever."
This one hasn’t watched football for a few seasons.
"Be gone. Stay out of Amite!"
Smith calls Amite, La. home. This is just another “if you leave Louisiana to play football, don’t come back” post.
"Only way we can make this right is to beat bama bad this year!!!"
Five in a row is starting to get to them.
"No repping the boot at bama! How you gone join the lsu most hated rival and rep the boot. He join the enemy he become the enemy."
“How you gone” represent your state by doing your best in college? He is now the enemy!
"really excited to see eric monroe or cam lewis lay this gump out when he comes across the middle of the field in tiger stadium come 2018…"
You probably are excited to see anything from your Tigers that is tougher than a cat trying to tackle a plastic bag.
"Bigdog I agree, Bama is the enemy, you rep the boot in the boot or not at all"
Just another “rep the boot” post.
