Defending Cam Robinson At Media Days

Back in May, Cam Robinson and Hootie Jones were arrested in Monroe, LA. From the very beginning of this story breaking details were hazy and information seemed to conflict.

The story got more confusing, more convoluted, and eventually charges were dropped. The full details of the situation never seem to have made it out to the public, and that’s fine. It’s none of our business.

Leave it to Paul Finebaum to try to make it his business.

At SEC Media Days, Coach Saban sat down with the SEC Network crew. Finebaum wanted Nick Saban’s answer to criticisms that he wasn’t suspending Robinson and Jones for the opener.

Saban is a pretty predictable guy. In this instance as in many others, he thinks his critics are wrong and he doesn’t really care what they think.

He even goes so far as to point out some of the inconsistencies in what happened and reminded Paul Finebaum that if the guys had done something wrong, charges would have been pressed.

The best thing about this clip is the way that Saban goes to bat for his players. He gets a reputation for being an unfeeling guy, even a mean guy, but he doesn’t let anyone talk smack about his guys.

He gets mad here because Finebaum is using incomplete facts to paint an unfair picture of one of his players, and it’s nice to see him showing some emotion out of his regard for his players.
