Crimson Tide Golf To The PGA: Justin Thomas Leads Impressive Field In Mexico

From Crimson Tide Golf to the PGA. Justin Thomas leads by one going into last round of the World Golf Championship Mexico Tournament.

Justin Thomas will be playing in elite company Sunday as he looks to win his fourth tournament of the 2016-17 PGA season. Justin is an avid Crimson Tide fan and fast becoming Crimson Tide Golf’s most successful professional player.

In Sunday’s fourth and final round in Mexico City, Thomas will start at -12 under par after carding a pair of 66’s in rounds two and three. Closing trailing Justin are Dustin Johnson at -11; Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson, both at -10. England’s Lee Westwood sits three back at -9.

Justin has already shot a 59 on tour this season. Take a look at the ace he made on Saturday in route to his 66 score.

Thomas was a key member of the Crimson Tide Golf National Championship team in 2013. His freshman season in 2012, Justin won the Haskins Award as the best men’s collegiate golfer.

Thomas turned professional after the national championship season. He won a tournament on the Web.Com Tour in his professional rookie season.

He won his first PGA Tour event in 2015, the CIMB Classic in Kuala Lumpur in a one-stroke victory over Australian Adam Scott. He was 26 under par for the event.

Thomas won the same tournament again in October 2016. The second win was by three strokes over second-place finisher Hideki Matsuyama. Thomas was 23 under par in his second CIMB win.

Thomas finished ahead of Matsuyama again in January 2017, winning the SBS Tournament of Champions by three strokes after finishing 22 under par.

A week later in Honolulu, HI Thomas opened the Sony Open with a first round 59. He coasted to victory in the Sony Open, finishing at 27 under par and winning by seven shots over Justin Rose.

Justin is slightly built at around 145 lbs. on his 5’10” frame. Despite his size, he is one of the longest drivers on the PGA Tour. He is currently eighth on the PGA Tour in driving distance at 308.2 yards.

In less than five full seasons of professional golf, Justin Thomas has earned over $10 million in prize money.
