No. 6 – 2013 Alabama Pitching Staff

Alabama’s 2013 season, following the national championship, was a disappointing one, posting a 45-15 record. That normally wouldn’t be a bad season, but the Crimson Tide was also 13-11 in conference play.

The Alabama softball pitching staff was led by Jackie Traina, who was in her junior season at the time. She posted a 19-8 record and a 2.49 ERA. She recorded 214 strikeouts that year. Traina is now an assistant coach for Dartmouth softball.

Right behind Traina was then-sophomore Leslie Jury. Jury had a 2.56 ERA with 103 batters struck out. Early in her pitching career, Jury started nineteen games in 2013. Lauren Sewell appeared in sixteen games and was undefeated at 8-0. Sewell did an even amount of pitching and hitting for the Tide.

The 2013 season ended with Alabama falling in the Super Regional to Tennessee 3-2 in game one, followed by a 5-3 loss in game two. Traina started and played most of the innings in both games. Leslie Jury pitched in relief in the first game.
