"The Crimson Tide and Mercer will meet for the third time on Saturday and the first time in 77 years. The Tide and the Bears have met only twice, with UA coming away with a pair of 20-0 victories in Tuscaloosa in 1939 and 1940. Mercer is in its fifth season since reviving its program in 2013."

Alabama this season. Mercer trails Alabama 0-2 in their all-time series. The two teams played in consecutive seasons with Alabama winning both games. Linebacker Lee Bennett owns a team-high 102 tackles this season. He has three games with 16-plus tackles. This game marks the third time Mercer has faced an FBS team since reviving its program in 2013, with Georgia Tech in 2016 and Auburn in 2017. Chandler Curtis is averaging 102.8 all-purpose yards per game, making him just one of three SoCon players with 1,000-plus all-purpose yards on the season.
