Alabama football’s report card vs. Tennessee

Wide Receivers: B-

Alabama has been looking to play more of the younger guys at receiver. Traeshon Holden has seen more reps, and JoJo Earle is listed as a starter now alongside Slade Bolden. However, the two-headed monster remains.

Jameson Williams has stepped up to be a true WR1 threat thanks to his speed, and John Metchie is coming off of his best game of the season. He is smooth with his routes and has a great ability to make players miss with the ball in his hands.

Jameson Williams had some uncharacteristic drops and a bad fumble this week. Still, he led the team in receiving yards thanks to his big plays. Metchie was the reliable target who also had over 100 yards.

On the bright side, the younger players stepped up. Traeshon Holden is becoming a true piece of this offense, and he will be a great player in the future.

All things considered, the receiver play picked up later in the game. Still, they can’t have so many errors against quality opponents.

Running Backs: B+

Brian Robinson has seen his usage skyrocket this year, and the loss of Jase McClellan did not help matters. Roydell Williams has stepped in as RB2, but Robinson still sees most of the touches with the starters. He’s stepped up and been one of Alabama football‘s most improved players.

Robinson had another solid game where he saw all sorts of carries, but it wasn’t because of explosive plays. He bullied his way for small gains, and he scored in the red zone.

You would like to see more explosive plays, but Robinson still did his job.
