Alabama gets no help, how will the committee view this weekend?

Entering rivalry weekend there was a massive hope that Alabama Football would get a rankings boost via a team like Washington State or Florida beating higher-ranked opponents. The only team ranked higher than the Crimson Tide to fall was the Ohio State Buckeyes who May end up ranked higher than the Alabama Football team this week.

Entering the SEC Championship game, I wouldn’t expect the Alabama Football team to move higher than their current ranking of eighth. The question will be is this too far for the Crimson Tide to be able to jump into the playoff? In this scenario we’re assuming the teams ahead of Alabama are in this sort of order: Georgia, Michigan, Washington, Florida State, Oregon, Ohio State, and Texas.

With a SEC Championship win Alabama should jump Ohio State who’ll be inactive ranking them at worst Seventh. After that, they’d need a combination of Texas, Washington, and Florida State losses with the committee ranking Alabama over the Georgia Bulldogs. The rankings won’t change ahead of Alabama team-wise but what could be troublesome is if Oregon makes its way into the top four. Oregon being ranked fourth could lead to a potential Pac-12 championship game that comes down to the last possession getting Washington and Oregon into the playoffs. On conference championship Saturday the Alabama Football program may need a little more than a win over the Bulldogs and we will all also be Cardinals, Hawkeyes, and Cowboys fans come Saturday.
