Kalen DeBoer has more momentum on the recruiting trail. After a quiet couple of months following a brilliant summer, Alabama has positioned itself for a strong finish to the 2026 recruiting class.

Alabama's class ranks No. 4 in the 247 composite right now with 22 commitments. Along with having some of their top targets announce they had shut their recruitments down this week - QB Jett Thomalla, RB EJ Crowell, and WR Cederian Morgan all announced that on Sunday - the Crimson Tide also landed a commitment from one of its top remaining targets: 3-star OT Jared Doughty, who is one of the fastest-rising prospects in the country.

There could be more good news on the way.

3-star safety Khmari Bing announced on Monday that he had decommitted from Maryland. Bing, a high school teammate of 5-star Alabama commitment Jireh Edwards, is one of the top players left on DeBoer's wishlist.

Alabama will look to beat out Ohio State and Indiana for Khmari Bing

Alabama has a big advantage in Bing's recruitment with Jireh Edwards recruiting him hard. Edwards is confident that Bing will end up in Alabama's class:

Bing visited Ohio State this past weekend, which makes the Buckeyes a real threat in his recruitment. Bing will be in Tuscaloosa on November 8th for a visit during Alabama's game against LSU. He'll take an official visit to Indiana the following week, and he is reportedly still considering Maryland despite the decommitment.

Bing is another player who is being recruited heavier than his star ranking. He is a consensus 3-star recruit and is ranked as the No. 914 overall player and No. 76 cornerback in the 2026 recruiting class, according to the 247 composite.

But the Baltimore native has put enough on tape to be intriguing for heavy-hitters like Alabama and Ohio State.

Alabama has four defensive backs committed in the 2026 class already. 5-stars Jorden Edmonds (CB) and Jireh Edwards (S), along with 4-star CB Zyan Gibson, and 3-star safety Rihyael Kelley, a former Rutgers commitment.

Alabama is comfortable with its current crop of defensive backs - and it's one of the best DB classes in the country, again - but Bing is a guy the Crimson Tide has coveted recently. Alabama extended an offer to him at the end of August, and that immediately began the flip rumors.

It seemed like only a matter of time before he decommitted from Maryland, though Ohio State is going to make it a challenge for Alabama to reel him in.
