Alabama Crimson Tide news and notes from Monday and Tuesday, September 22nd and 23rd.
Alabama gets good and not so good injury news
On Monday, Alabama got some good injury news to open Georgia week. Both Jam Miller and Tim Keenan are expected to make their season debuts on Saturday in Athens. Miller suffered a dislocated collarbone in the final scrimmage of fall camp which has kept him out. Keenan suffered a high-ankle sprain in practice the week of the Florida State game.
The Georgia game has always been the target for the return of the veteran starters.
On Tuesday, Alabama got some bad news. Sixth-year senior Jah-Marien Latham, who has already dealt with injuries early in the season - a consistent theme in Latham's career in Tuscaloosa - suffered a scary injury in practice. Latham was taken to UAB in Birmingham after injuring his neck:
Statement from Head Coach Kalen DeBoer

“During today’s practice session, Jah-Marien Latham sustained a neck injury. He was transported to UAB St. Vincent’s Hospital for further evaluation and care.
We are pleased to report that Jah has full feeling and motion, and he is…
It's good news that Latham has feeling and motion, but a scary situation and a stark reminder of the dangers of the game of football. We wish Latham a quick and full recovery.
Alabama veterans show their support of Kalen DeBoer
Kalen DeBoer has endured a lot of criticism already this season following the Crimson Tide's disappointing performance in their season-opening loss to Florida State. From words, it appears the locker room still has his back. We'll see if that's true in action on Saturday.
Tim Keenan stated he was "ready to go to war" for his head coach. Germie Bernard - who transferred to Alabama from Washington to join DeBoer - mentioned how DeBoer is doing everything in his power to turn this around. DeBoer's personality has changed over the last couple of weeks, something Bernard noted in a recent interview.
Ryan Grubb wants Ty Simpson to just keep doing what he's been doing
All eyes will be on Ty Simpson on Saturday night in Athens. His performance will, obviously, have a big impact on Alabama's ability to go on the road and knock off Georgia. Which version of Simpson will the Crimson Tide get? Will it be the version that seemed unsure of himself in Tallahassee? Or the one from the last two games that looked like the best quarterback in the country?
Alabama OC Ryan Grubb just wants Simpson to remember what made him successful against ULM and Wisconsin. Keep it simple.
Alabama's SEC opponents for the next four years revealed
We already knew on Monday that Alabama's three annual SEC opponents would be Auburn, Tennessee, and Mississippi State, but on Tuesday night the SEC revealed the league schedules for the next four seasons.

Bruce Pearl's retirement could have recruiting ripple effects for Nate Oats
Auburn head basketball coach Bruce Pearl announced his retirement on Tuesday in a move that surprised many. His son will take over as the team's head coach, effective immediately.
That decision could have ripple effects on the recruiting trail, perhaps none more important than with 5-star SG Caleb Holt, an Alabama native. Many have expected his recruitment to come down to Alabama and Auburn. With Pearl walking away, Oats should have Alabama even better positioned to land the elite prospect.
