Leading up to spring football getting started later this month, Alabama and Kalen DeBoer hold four commits for the 2027 class. Obviously, that number is going to start growing soon and there are several big-name targets to keep a close eye on.
Alabama's biggest competition for Monshun Sales isn't who you think it is
For a lot of Alabama fans who follow recruiting closely, receiver Monshun Sales is at the top of the wishlist. However, he's not the only wideout DeBoer is hoping to land. In this case, we're talking about KeSean Bowman, a Tennessee product who had a close relationship with former WRs coach JaMarcus Shephard. For a little while, it felt like Bama was going to be out on Bowman, but that's not the case. Alabama is back in the picture, with the Crimson Tide being included in his new Top 5:

Alabama has made the Top 5 for electric 5-star WR KeSean Bowman
And then there were five. Bowman is a stud for the Brentwood Academy in Tennessee, which is right outside of Nashville. As you might have been able to guess, both Vanderbilt and Tennessee are putting in a ton of work on Bowman, with the two SEC foes among his finalists.
Ohio State and Miami are also in the mix here. It's important to note that Bowman was previously committed to Oregon and while the Ducks were hoping to capture his pledge for a second time, it looks like that's now off the table for Dan Lanning.
While that's bad news for the Ducks, the good news here is that Alabama remains in the hunt and DeBoer will certainly work to lock in an official visit with Bowman as soon as possible. Could that OV come either this month or in April to catch a spring session?
From our chair, it'd be wise for DeBoer to lock things down there with Bowman, who is ranked five stars and the No. 6 WR in the country per the 247Sports Composite. There's serious competition across the board, but Bama taking this next step with Bowman sure feels like a positive sign.
