Kalen DeBoer is on a heater in the Transfer Portal, particularly on the offensive line.
After exaggerated fears about the depth of the offensive line, the Crimson Tide now has a pretty full room. Ole Miss guard Ethan Fields committed to Alabama on Saturday, becoming the fifth Transfer Portal addition up front (and third in two days). He's now the 15th offensive lineman for the Crimson Tide.

Ethan Fields brings needed SEC experience to a young Alabama offensive line
DeBoer and GM Courtney Morgan have done great work flipping the offensive line this portal cycle. But the one area of concern is with how young the group is. Alabama's line will feature predominantly first and second-year players, so it's hard to overstate how vital it is to grab a guy like Fields, who has three years of SEC experience under his belt.
Fields was primarily a backup at Ole Miss during his three years in Oxford, but he saw playing time in 19 games, including all 15 games for the Rebels this year, though that primarily came on special teams.
He's listed at 6-foot-3 and 320 pounds and will come right in and compete for one of Alabama's vacated offensive guard spots.
Fields was a highly coveted player in the portal. Ole Miss didn't want to lose him, and he came to Alabama fresh off a visit to Tennessee.
Alabama has now added five offensive linemen in the Transfer Portal so far, and may not be completely done. Fields is the third in two days, joining Cal Poly's Racin Delgatty and Texas' Nick Brooks, who committed to the Crimson Tide on Friday night.
Alabama previously added Michigan transfers Kaden Strayhorn and Ty Haywood. Add the five players the Crimson Tide signed in the 2026 recruiting class, and DeBoer is bringing in 10 new faces to the offensive line room in 2026.
That was a much-needed roster flip up front after the struggles Alabama experienced the last two seasons on the offensive line.
