The Alabama Crimson Tide has the No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers ahead of them, and while facing the No. 1 team in the country isn't new for the team, facing the Hoosiers sure is.
Not to mention, Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza is the Heisman Trophy recipient and has posed a problem for every team he has come across so far this season.
Fernando's biggest weapon is undeniably his arm, earning 2,980 passing yards for 33 touchdowns so far this season, but his all-around game possesses a skill that might pose a bigger problem for the Crimson Tide.
Fernando Mendoza's run game could spell ruin for Alabama
Don't get it twisted, Mendoza doesn't run the ball very often. Through the first 13 games of the season, he has only carried the ball 69 times (5.3 rush attempts per game). However, he has earned an impressive 240 yards and six touchdowns on those quarterback keepers.
Not to mention, rushing quarterbacks have killed 'Bama so far this year.
In Alabama's regular-season loss to Oklahoma, quarterback John Mateer ran for the Sooners' only touchdown in the game, literally pushing his team to victory.
Even though the Tide beat the Gamecocks, South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers ran for 67 tards and a touchdown. In the Iron Bowl, which, yes, was another win for Alabama, Auburn quarterback Ashton Daniels ran for a whopping 108 yards against the Crimson Tide defense.
While 'Bama has escaped rushing quarterbacks throughout the regular season (for the most part), the team has yet to face Mendoza and his dominant offensive line. So, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer has to prepare his defense to stop the quarterback rush.
