Alabama already has one QB locked in for the 2027 recruiting class in in-state 4-star Trent Seaborn, but that hasn't stopped Kalen DeBoer and company from heavily pursuing their top target: 5-star Baton Rouge native Elijah Haven.

Haven made multiple trips to Tuscaloosa during this past football season, and the Crimson Tide is one of four finalists for the coveted signal-caller, along with Auburn, Florida, and Georgia.

Alabama has long been considered the favorite for Haven, and DeBoer and his staff will look to make a strong final impression next weekend ahead of what is expected to be a commitment decision sometime in February.

Haven is scheduled to be at Alabama's Junior Day next Saturday, January 31st:

Haven is the No. 1 QB in the country in the 2027 class according to both 247 and ESPN. On3/Rivals has a wild variance for the 5-star, ranking him as the No. 6 QB and No. 96 overall player. Both 247 and ESPN view Haven as a Top 10 overall recruit. That wild variance keeps Haven from being the consensus No. 1 QB in his class.

Predictions have favored Alabama in his recruitment for a couple of months, but the three other teams competing for Haven are all more QB-needy than the Crimson Tide. How much Haven values quickly getting on the field could play a role in his decision.

When Haven arrives on campus, Alabama is projected to still have Keelon Russell in his redshirt sophomore season, plus Jett Thomalla, a likely redshirt freshman, who finished as the No. 7 QB in the composite in the 2026 class.

Georgia, Auburn, and Florida all have voids at QB for 2027 and no elite options waiting in the wings.

Regardless of who wins the initial sweepstakes for Haven, you can expect that his recruitment will be far from over. It will be a fight between now and the early signing period in December, no matter what. He's too talented a player for any program to give up this far from when he can officially sign his paperwork.
