The Tide also have done a great job recruiting four-star tight end Nick Townsend who was in town this weekend and has ties with Keelon Russell. The most likely candidate to be Alabama's next commitment of the group is Dawson Merritt. The top-100 linebacker had two final teams, Alabama and Nebraska and after spending official visits with both teams a decision may occur soon.

Tide commits on the road

While Alabama Commits Duke Johnson and Jaeden Harmon returned to campus and helped with recruiting, some of the Alabama Football team's commitments were on visits out of town. Linebacker Myles Johnson who committed to Nick Saban was in Gainsville this weekend and the Gators are emerging as a team that may end up flipping Johnson.

Alabama Commit Antonio Coleman returned to Auburn this weekend for an official visit. Coleman was committed to Alabama before flipping to Auburn and then back to Alabama. This recruitment could be shaping up as one that's not over until pen hits paper on National Signing Day. Tide commit Derick Smith was also at Auburn this weekend after spending last weekend in Tuscaloosa.

This Summer's official visits have been incredibly impressive

When Kalen DeBoer came to Tuscaloosa everyone's concern was whether or not he could recruit in the SEC. The standards are incredibly high as it seemed that Nick Saban was guaranteed one of the best classes every year regardless of how late he started recruiting a player. In the spring, DeBoer closed out a few recruits but, nothing overly impressive that wowed the fans. This summer has been a different story as DeBoer has landed his future quarterback and a top-100 cornerback in the opening weekend while he picked up four crystal ball predictions this weekend. DeBoer is proving that the Alabama Football program is still strong without Nick Saban with some early dominance this summer.
