The Alabama Crimson Tide finished another scrimmage Saturday, and the quarterback battle is in full swing.
ICYMI: What If Verne And Gary Were Commentators For The Olympics?
With just 19 days left until the Alabama Crimson Tide face off against the Southern California Trojans in Dallas, all eyes are on a particular group of men – the quarterbacks.
Everyone is speculating about which of our guys will start under center that very first game. Will it be senior Cooper Bateman? Redshirt freshman Blake Barnett? Could it even be a first under Nick Saban with TRUE freshman Jalen Hurts?
No one knows. Because as usual, the Crimson Tide’s head coach Nick Saban isn’t talking.
No stats have been released from Saturday’s scrimmage, and Nick Saban’s press conference was vague, even for him.
"“I think all three guys would sit and tell you that there was things they could have done better,” Saban said. “There are also decisions that they made that they’d like to have back. … I actually think there wasn’t a whole lot of poor decisions made that I would say ‘Wow, that’s really, really bad.’ But I think that the consistency and efficiency would have been a little better at times if they would have made better choices.”"
Listening only to Saban, all three men have an equal chance of playing for the Crimson Tide this season. But ask a beat writer, and they’ll all mention one name: Jalen Hurts.
Saban on Jalen Hurts: Very talented guy. I thought he did some really good day. He does really good things each and every day.

That’s pretty high praise coming from Saban.
So will a true freshman actually start for the Crimson Tide come Saturday, September third? Depends on who you ask. Whatever the case, we’ll find out in nineteen days.
With Saban calling the shots, you can bet it will be the right decision.
