The Transfer Portal is now closed.
Sorta.
The deadline for new entries into the portal was Friday night at midnight, though schools technically have 48 hours to process paperwork from student athletes. Weekends and holidays don't count, so you could still see a few players pop into the portal by Wednesday of next week.
But Alabama isn't currently expected to lose anyone else. Kalen DeBoer and GM Courtney Morgan still have some work to do, though.
After some early panic, particularly last Sunday when Hollywood Smothers flipped to Texas and Alabama missed out on Cam Coleman, DeBoer and his staff have done a nice job of finding impactful players and quality depth.
Alabama has seen 22 players leave via the portal, but has struck back with 15 new additions, including two major offensive line targets - Cal Poly's Racin Delgatty and Texas' Nick Brooks - on Friday.
Alabama still has a few more needs that it'll look to address with plenty of talented players still looking for new homes.
Alabama still has to address these positions in the Transfer Portal
One more quality Offensive Lineman
Alabama has landed four offensive linemen in the portal. Along with Delgatty and Brooks on Friday night, the Crimson Tide previously landed Michigan's Kaden Strayhorn and Ty Haywood. With those four, along with five additions in the 2026 recruiting class, Alabama will have nine new bodies in the offensive line room next season to go along with five returnees.
Alabama needed to flip that room after disappointing results the last two seasons, and DeBoer has done just that. One more quality depth piece would give the Crimson Tide 15 on the roster, which would be a good number to head into next season with.
That player could be Ole Miss transfer guard Ethan Fields, who has two years of eligibility left. He has quality SEC experience, playing in 19 games for the Rebels over the last two seasons.
Wide Receiver depth
Alabama's wide receiver room isn't devoid of talent, but there isn't much depth right now. Four players return from last season's team - Ryan Williams, Lotzeir Brooks, Rico Scott, and Derek Meadows - and the Crimson Tide added one player in the 2026 recruiting class (4-star Cederian Morgan), and one player in the Transfer Portal so far (NC State's Noah Rogers).
That's only six players in the room. Alabama is likely looking for two or three more scholarship options at WR for depth purposes.
The main one on the radar right now is Yale transfer Nico Brown, who is in Tuscaloosa this weekend for a visit. Brown was an FCS All-American this season, producing over 1000 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Bulldogs.
Even if Brown ends up with the Crimson Tide, another couple of receivers will be necessary to fill out the room.
Edge Rusher
After losing both Qua Russaw and Noah Carter in the Transfer Portal, Alabama only has two Wolf linebackers from last season returning: Yhonzae Pierre and Justin Hill. 5-star incoming freshman Xavier Griffin will probably begin his career with that position group, but adding at least one edge rusher is a necessity.
There are a few options for the Crimson Tide out there. The two that have been linked to Alabama are Kentucky's Javeon Campbell and South Carolina's Desmond Umeozulu.
Pierre will be one of the top returning pass rushers in the country, and Hill has all the potential in the world. So Alabama doesn't have to go out there and get a guy with a ton of previous production. A project type with the right size and skillset would do just fine.
Defensive Line
Alabama lost its entire Bandit room on the defensive line with LT Overton running out of eligibility and Keon Keeley, Jordan Renaud, and Kelby Collins all entering the portal. Alabama also lost Tim Keenan (eligibility) and James Smith (portal) on the interior.
So far, Alabama added the versatile Devan Thompkins from USC and Washington's Caleb Smith in the portal for the defensive line. Thompkins will likely play both Bandit and DT in Kane Wommack's defense. He projects as an early down Bandit and an interior player in obvious passing situations. Smith will play Bandit, but is probably at least a year away from being able to play meaningful snaps in the SEC.
The big fish Alabama is trying to land right now is mammoth Oregon DT Terrance Green, who is on a visit to Tuscaloosa this weekend. He's 6-foot-5 and 330 pounds and would be a huge boost to the Tide's run defense as Keenan's replacement.
A three-man defensive line on standard downs of Green, London Simmons, and Thompkins would give the Crimson Tide a really strong group to stop the run.
An honorable mention position of need would be at running back, but after losing Smothers, there may not be an impact player left for the Tide to target. They may end up rolling with the five-man group of Daniel Hill, Kevin Riley, AK Dear, EJ Crowell, and Tra'Shawn Brown.
